Corona Chaos!

So, your IELTS test has been cancelled. You have no idea when it will be rearranged.

What now?

It is frustrating when you have been revising for your IELTS test for some time now and you find that it has been cancelled. Whilst it is easy to panic, you can use this time as an opportunity.

Your exam may have been cancelled or delayed. So, use this time effectively. Don't make the mistake of doing nothing while you are waiting for the next available date. If you don't use your time well now, you may find when your new test date arrives, you are not ready. You may have even forgotten what you have revised!

These are my top tips:

✔ Record yourself talking for 2 minutes on common Speaking topics (e.g. a person you admire, a family member, a journey you remember, an object you don't have now but would like in the future, a person in the news who you admire.....)

✔ Listen back to yourself (I know we all hate the sound of our own voice...get over it). Try to find any grammar or vocabulary mistakes that you have made. Very often, candidates lose marks on very basic errors. For example, do you keep adding an 'S' when you don't need to? Or are you using present tenses to talk about past events?

✔Revise different types of Task 1 and Task 2 Writing questions again. Look at sample answers and revise the structure of every type of task. Think about the tenses you would need to write different tasks.Get a teacher to mark sample answers.

✔Expand your vocabulary. Make vocabulary mind maps and link them according to theme and task. For example, you could make mind maps on the language needed to summarise line graphs or bar charts or even maps.

✔Book some online lessons to practise further!
